At Camas Church of the Nazarene, we are committed to loving all, learning together, and living in Christ. One of the best and most exciting ways we fulfill this vision is through learning circles. This is our small group ministry. Yet they are unique from most small group initiatives because they flow directly out of our vision statement.
We are committed to loving all. This means relationship is at the core of everything we do. Our learning circles are not just about information transfer. They are about building strong and healthy relationships.
We are committed to learning together. I hope you see the obvious reason we call our small groups learning circles. Together, sitting in a circle, we will learn together.
We are committed to living in Christ. This is what we’re learning. Not just facts and figures, but the practical, lived experience of growing in Christlikeness. We call this holiness.
For many small groups the goal is that the leader would teach the group. Learning Circles are unique because it’s all about facilitating good conversation. The teaching happens when the Holy Spirit guides the conversation in his wisdom. While the lesson is presented on Sunday morning, this is just information. Our Learning Circles provide space for all of us to explore our own thoughts, struggles, and faith at our own pace. We will all learn better if we give people a chance to ask questions and share their thoughts — this is the place for transformation!
