We base everything we believe on Jesus instructions to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. And to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
Everything. Literally, everything else hinges on these instructions. See Matthew 22:35-40, Mark 12:28-31, Luke 10:25-28, also John 13:24. We are also proud of our over 100-year affiliation with and support of the Church of the Nazarene. We are a holiness denomination that traces our heritage to John Wesley and the Methodist movement. For the full list of our 16 Articles of Faith visit the official website for the Church of the Nazarene. The mission of the global Church of the Nazarene is to make Christlike disciples in the nations. Therefore we look to the Great Commission for guidance. (Matthew 28:19-20). As a global community of faith, we are commissioned to take the Good News of life in Jesus Christ to people everywhere and spread the message of holiness (Christlike living).
The Church of the Nazarene unites individuals who have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives, sharing in Christian fellowship, and seeking to strengthen each other in faith development through worship, preaching, training, and service to others. We strive to express the compassion of Jesus Christ to all persons. We are called to glorify God, and we also are called to actively participate in His mission—reconciling the world to himself. Members of the Church of the Nazarene are a sent people—into homes, work places, communities, and villages as well as other cities and countries. God continues calling ordinary people to do extraordinary things made possible by the power of the Holy Spirit. |
